About Me
Hi, This I believe would be the most dynamic and important part of the Blog. In the sense that, who I am changes with how I grow. To that extent, I will be changing and editing this page from time to time. Last edited 30/07/2020; next review due on 30/10/2020.
I'm a (forever) student of Psychology, presently pursuing Master's in Psychology, MA Psychology from University College of Arts and Social Sciences, Osmania University (OU), Hyderabad. I finished my graduation in Bachelor's of Arts from OU via AV College of Arts Sciences and Commerce (AV), BA with Psychology, Public Administration and Political Science as my majors.
With my graduation final year dissertation as the beginning, I took an immense liking to research work and observational studies. I have also submitted a couple of personal papers in my college symposiums. I also participated in a local research study as an onsite assistant, and in another as the head of the Hyderabad chapter of a national-level research project.
Graduation Dissertation:
'Quantitative Correlation on the Levels of Emotional Intelligence between Government School and Private School Teachers' Investigator: Mudassir Mohsin Jowher. Supervisor: Mrs Deepika G.
Personal papers submitted on:
'Importance of English Language in Higher Education in India' By Osmania University,
and 'Mother Tongue Interference' By Department of English, AV.
Local field study participation:
'Screening the Learning Issues of Govt. School Students' by Dr Veerender C., UnMe Counseling Centre, RTC 'X' roads; and Dr Shiva Kumar, Asha Hospital, Banjara Hills.
National Level Survey Conducting:
‘Hate Crime- Prejudices And Violence Faced By People From North Eastern States And Measures To Counter them- An Empirical Study’ for National Law University, New Delhi- By Dr G. S. Bajpai (Project Director and Principal Investigator), via Manikandan S. (MPhil Criminologist) (overseer for the State of Telangana and my supervisor).
I also got the opportunity to intern for Dr Pragya Rashmi, a prominent Clinical Psychologist in Hyderabad, as her Psychology Assistant in her OP for a year, Nov 2018- Nov 2019. Where I learned basic of Counseling and therapy, as well as Psychological Assessment. Inventory, Filing, Reporting, Scheduling, Planning. Basically, everything a Personal Assistant would do plus Psychology OP know-how. If I have to sum up the skills learned in that 1 year it would be; Patient Handling and Clinic Management. I even assisted junior interns in their early days and taught them what I could. Working with Dr Rashmi was, by large, the most enriching experience I've had so far.
In my 7th grade, my then homeroom teacher (read: class teacher) Ms Shaheda in our English class urged us to write a poem. 11 years later I am a featured poet in Unread an anthology by Kshitija Sarda, Tedx speaker and CEO of PlatformforArtists. The book launch of Unread was attended by Taapsee Pannu and Shweta Shalini along with Pawan Rochwani, Founder of PlatformforArtists.
Going back further, my early life includes the fantasies of a young boy, born and brought up in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Who'd come to India in every summer vacation; grumpy at first because my other friends, who didn't travel, got to join summer camp at school, while I had to come to Hyderabad, the birthplace of my parents. To this day I still proudly carry my status as an ex NRI, and I am forever grateful for everything I got to witness that only a child that grows up abroad could understand. Till the end of my 8th grade in every morning assembly, we'd recite two national anthems: Ishy Bilady, the national anthem of UAE and Jana Gana Mana, the national anthem of my beloved India.
My dad has been a high school teacher for a major part of his career. Though he is retired now, he spends his days video calling his granddaughter or teaching kids in our extended family and friends. My mom, on the other hand, stopped work after her marriage to look after us and taught me most of what I know; from cooking to stitching to cleaning to maths to writing, she has made me the person I am today. And I am forever grateful to have both of them as my parents.
I have two elder brothers and an adorable younger sister. My eldest brother lives with my bhabi and their baby in Doha, Qatar whereas my second brother works in Tricog one of the world’s largest predictive healthcare analytics firms and lives in Bangalore. My sister and I are pursuing our masters, while I delve deeper into Psychology she finds her calling in Political Science and aims to pursue her career in the domain on Environmental Politics and shawarma. hehe.
Lastly, a few of my friends, colleagues and other acquaintances have come together to create a Psychology +ve platform called On the Safer Side with me. Presently with me as the Founder, the On the Safer Side Group is working on promoting and distributing conversations around Psychology in a bid to Strengthen Mental Health and Hygiene.
It is almost 10 pm here at my place on 30th July 2020. And I am wrapping up this page for now. This pandemic has already been going on for more than 7 months and for those of you reading this; I wish you all the very best.
Stay Sane, Stay Safe, Take Care.
See you On the Safer Side.
